My sammy is sick, after 80,000 mile and one over heating, this engine is running hot. I did a block test and found exhaust gas in the coolant. I guess I get to rebuild him early. I was planning on it so I can change the piston for the turbo, but not so soon. I wonder if Copper head gaskets are still available. The one that is on the engine now is a felpro with a wire reinforced fire ring. I have never had good luck with them while using a turbo. Pistons are gonna be the next big expense... 700 for 8.1 from Ross. I think I am also going to try a different cam too.. _________________ We can choose are friends, but not our family.

This rebuild is #2.. the first one was when I pulled the motor from a 2000 swift that had 80k on it. The swift engine is a 1.3 16 valve. A G13BB casting. I rebuilt it then. When I built it then I used 11:1 pistons from Ross, Paughter Rods, Brian Crower Cam 190/ 176, Titanium Retainers, Stainless Valves, Flow benched Head, 6 degree advance Cam Gear, 60mm mitsu throttle body, Hyabusa injectors, Wasted spark swift ignition, Thorley Header, a MegaSquirt II V 3.0 Computer. Had a modified Hyabusa ECU but it was damaged a year ago... ( I accidentally shorted the primary feed and smoked the Injector drivers.) I had left it stock bore only took out enough to clean up the cylinder walls. I had intended to run Nitrous and with forge pistons I need a bit more clearance than stock. The ring gap is a little open to because of the Nitrous, I set them at .012. Funny though I never really got to install Nitrous, didn't really need it much. A turbo will work better at High altitude anyway. I live at 6000 ft. an work anywhere from 5000 to 9000 ft. _________________ We can choose are friends, but not our family.
