Even though we haven't been on page one for over a month, we've actually been getting new members on a regular basis... I wonder if top4x4sites is helping at all???

I thought about that too. I can only believe that thru simple logic if some happens to top 4x4 site and they see a forum they may be interested in then they would use the link provided. Just like our vendor links if some one is shopping for some goodies for there 4x4. And if the vendor have links as well where there customers may come to any forums that they may have on there web pages or links to those forums. But I would have to say that search engines and where you stand in ranking on those is where you are more likely to get new members from. Wink

Its kind of a double edge sword in my opinion. On one side, nobody knows that your out there unless you advertise. On the other side, word of mouth can send more members your way if someone has a good thing to say. You can say it like this: Good members + a good experience + a positive attitude = A member for life!

Both of you have very good points. While we are at the top of the search engine if you type in madzuks... you have to know about us to search for us Laughing

WELL, I HAD NEVER EVEN HEARD OF TOP 4X4 SITES UNTIL I GOT ON HERE. IT SEEMS YOU ADVERTIZE FOR THEM MORE THAN THEY FOR YOU.

When I first started looking for Zuk sites I found ZU on Top4x4sites, then I found ZK on their as well.

Finally, I started looking past page one and found a small, stagnant site in 65th position. Being the "Route for the Underdog" type of guy that I am, I signed up with the little site and began posting on every topic to try and engage members that weren't on frequently and to try to bring new members in. I was a Moderator on that site for a couple of years and helped them get on page one, brought in some new members and engaged in daily posting and post hoing with others.

Even though they are still a small site, they now have a small core of regulars like we do and manage to stay on page one.

I don't know how much good Top4x4sites helps with new members, I just figured any advertisement is better than none... but I do agree, word of mouth and having a good group is the best advertisment you can have! Very Happy Wink

I don't know what, if any, value Top 4X4 gives us but I don't really care. Lou wants us to be on page one so I vote as often as I can to keep us there.

All bow and pledge allegiance to the great and terrible Redwolf, lest he become angry and sod off elsewhere.

Vanquisher and I grew up together, we were so close that people thought we were brothers.

I swear that boy could read my mind cause if I ran out of gas or had to walk somewhere for any reason... he would mysteryiously appear out of nowhere. One night I was riding my bike home from work (approximately 10 miles) and ran over some glass on the street which blew out both my tires, I started walking the bike home and ended up having to fend off two dogs, My night was going to Hail in a hand basket when out of nowhere mike pulls up with his Mom and Dad's Chrysler Newport, we put the 10 speed in the trunk and he dropped me off at home.

The boy was definitely a life saver...and yes, he can dish it out as good as anyone Shocked Laughing
